Coaching children in sports is a very rewarding experience, and coaching your own child's team is one of the best experiences you can have. Coaching is essential to the success of AYSO, and we are always in need of coaches in all divisions.
There are two primary steps to becoming an AYSO coach, the first of which is to register as a volunteer. The volunteer registration process is similar to registering your child as a player. Once you log in you will have the opportunity to register as a coach. Make sure you choose the division you want to coach! As part of the volunteer registration process you'll undergo a background check, this is an AYSO requirement to ensure the safety of the kids.
Step 2 in your road to becoming a coach is to receive training and get certified. A couple of the certifications are required for all volunteers: these are Safe Haven, Concussion Awareness and Sudden Cardiac Arrest. Both are available on AYSOu.org as online courses. Additionally, each coach must be certified at the level they are coaching. Training classes are available periodically and coach candidates can register for these classes on AYSOu.org. For 10U-19U coach volunteers an online coaching class for your division is required as well as an in-person class! See details below.

If you are unsure of what you need to do or where you are in the process please email our Regional Coach Administrator Justin McLagan at [email protected] 100% of our Coaches and Assistant Coaches MUST be certified in the age division they are coaching. No exceptions.
If we do not have enough certified coaches for our teams, then we will be forced to give refunds to those players assigned to teams that don't have coaches. We DO NOT want that to happen. We encourage everyone who has ever considered being a coach to give it a shot. We have a TREMENDOUS amount of resources now available to use (videos, coach manuals, practice plans).
Also, we will be providing additional coach practice resources (balls, cones, pinnies and first aid kit). We want to provide the tools and show our appreciation to those volunteers who step up to coach one of our 30+ teams!
There has never been a better time than now to start your AYSO coaching efforts!
Thank you for all you do!
