Regional Commissioner Executive Board member election

Hello AYSO Region 91 family

NOTICE OF SR. BOARD MEMBER AND REGIONAL COMMISSIONER ELECTIONS

As some of you might know REGION 91 Sr. board member positions are a one (1) year term and must be re-elected each year. However, the Regional Commissioner position is not only a Sr. board member of Region 91, but also an executive board member of AYSO National. This position in a three (3) year term. Currently the Regional Commissioner position is up for re-election this May 2020, along with all the Sr board member positions. You can find out more on those position here on the website.

If you are interested in this very important role (RC) or know of someone that you would like to nominate please let me know directly.  We would like to speak with all the candidates to make sure that they truly understand what the role entails.  If you are thinking about the role but would like to know more about, we’d be happy to speak with you and answer whatever questions you may have.  The goal is to have the RC elected before the end of June.

In general, the RC is the executive member from Region 91 and represents the region at the table during Area meetings.  As an executive member of AYSO, the RC attends the annual national meeting where new proposals are voted on and where the members of the National Board are elected.  The RC along with the regional board members plan the season for the region ensure that the regional goals are met.  The RC would specifically ensure that the regional goals are in line with the established AYSO guidelines and by-laws.  As I said, I would like to meet with anyone interested and provide more detail and answer any questions.

The process for this election would be the following...

1.  Nominations would be received.

2.  The Area Director would speak with the candidates about the role.

3.  All the candidates would attend a Regional Board Meeting and they would present their case for being the next RC.  This would be a question and answer session.  The Q & A session would be chaired by the interim RC or other chosen Sr. Board member

4.  Once step 3 is completed, the candidates would be dismissed, and the Regional Board will discuss the various candidates.

5.  At the end of step 4 the Regional Board would cast their votes and the winner will be decided by a simple majority vote.

I know that there have been allot of ups and downs this season.  I have spoken 1 on 1 with many of you and I know that there are many things that either need to be fixed or that you would like to simply see handled differently.  What I am asking is that you help get REGION 91 to where you believe it should be.  Be a part of the solution and help us get the Region going again.  You can help by leading the Region as the new RC or by being a part of the board and helping that new RC.

Thank you for your time.
